Marie has undertaken work for a variety of organisations
and private individuals including commissions for museums
and theatres often with supporting residencies and workshops
in printmaking, papermaking and banner making.
Designs for 11 banners for ‘Creating the Golden
Age’, a major exhibition of Anglo-Saxon artefacts
from museums across the UK, produced in collaboration
with BBC set designers. Both interior and exterior banners
were displayed within the exhibition and throughout
the museum site.
Alnwick
Playhouse Northumberland
Two commissioned works for permanent display in the
auditorium based upon the themes of stage and film.
Each piece is produced on screen printed and stitched
hand-made paper and measures 130 x 120 cm. In conjunction
with the commission, Marie undertook a residency in
13 Alnwick and district first schools culminating in
an exhibition of their work at the theatre.
Bede’s
World Jarrow
Two framed pieces for entrance atrium at Bede’s
World based upon the Anglo-Saxon relics and architecture
found at St Paul’s Monastery on the museum site
and at its sister monastery, St Peter’s. The work
was made from hand-made paper produced form crops from
their own medieval farm and include papers made form
spelt, emmer and einkorn. Each piece measures 110 x
50 cm and is in a sealed ash frame to prevent moisture
damage as it was sited near a water feature.
Stairwell Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Size : 500 x 21 cm
This hanging was commissioned by a client for an apartment
in Newcastle. The client wanted to link the ground floor
and first floor with a hanging 5metres long to give
dramatic impact to the space. He chose his own colour
scheme and agreed the final design. He was thrilled
by the work in situ giving a stunning backdrop to the
spiral staircase.
